    Obesity Statistics in 2013 – Men vs Women

    graph-2In the past 30 years, obesity has tripled in the United States. In 1980, roughly 10% of Americans were classified as obese and in 2010 35% of Americans were classified as obese.
    Obesity is not just confined to the United States, a recent study suggested that 19 of the 34 OECD countries has significantly obese population. OECD also predicts that in 2020, 66% of the entire population will be either overweight or obese – roughly the same population which afflicts the United States.
    Statistics in the United States

    Moreover in 2020, researchers predict that 43% of Men and 42% of Women will be obese, up from 32% and 34% respectively. Even more staggering, if rates remain the same, 83% of men and 72% of women will be either overweight or obese in 2020. For children, rates are predicted to rise too. In 2020, roughly 20% of children will be obese, up from 26.9% in 2012.
